About This Paper Craft Cow
This printable provides a simple template for building a charming, stand-up cow figure.
The entire craft is on a single page and consists of just two pieces:
- The main body piece, which includes the cow’s spotted body, legs, and friendly face.
- A separate, small tail piece.

- Step-by-step instruction sheet
When assembled, these pieces create a delightful, blocky cow that stands on its own four feet.
Benefits of This Craft Activity
This simple paper craft is more than just fun; it’s a great tool for early childhood development.
- Fine Motor Skills: Cutting along the lines and making precise folds helps strengthen hand-eye coordination.
- Following Directions: The craft uses a clear, four-step process, which is excellent practice for following instructions.
- Spatial Reasoning: Watching a flat piece of paper transform into a 3D object is a wonderful, hands-on geometry lesson.

Here’s what you’ll need for this simple paper craft:
- Our Free Cow Craft PDF: This contains the single-page template.
- Printer: A standard home printer.
- Paper: White Cardstock is best for a sturdier model.
- Scissors: For cutting out the two template pieces.
- Glue: A glue stick or standard liquid craft glue.
How to Assemble Your Cow
Building your 3D cow is a very straightforward process. The printable includes four easy steps to guide you.
Assembly Instructions:
- Cut Out the Pieces: Carefully cut out the main cow body shape and the separate tail piece from the printed template.
- Fold the Dotted Lines: Fold all the gray flaps and the sides along every dotted line on the main body piece.
- Glue the Body Together: Apply glue to each of the gray flaps and carefully press them into place to form the cow’s 3D body.
- Attach the Tail: Place a small amount of glue on the white tab of the tail piece and attach it to the back of the cow’s body.
Tips for a Successful Craft Time
Here are a few quick tips to help make this activity a success:
- Choose Cardstock: For a sturdier cow that stands up better, I highly recommend printing the template on a lightweight white cardstock.
- Scoring Folds: For extra-crisp folds, you can score the dotted lines with a blunt butter knife or an empty pen before folding.
- Patience with Glue: Allow the glue on the main body to dry for a minute before you attach the tail piece.
