What’s Inside Your Fairy Princess Printable Pack

When you download our free printable PDF, you’ll find everything you need neatly laid out across a few pages. We’ve designed it to be straightforward and easy to follow. Inside the pack, you will get:

  1. A Charming Cover Page: This gives you a little preview of the finished Fairy Princess, sparking inspiration for your own creation.
  2. Step-by-Step Visual Instructions: A dedicated page shows clear, illustrated steps (labeled A, B, and C) guiding you through the assembly process. Visual guides are often the easiest way for kids (and adults!) to understand how things fit together.
  3. Printable Piece 1 – The Skirt: This is the beautiful, cone-shaped base of your fairy princess’s dress, decorated with floral patterns ready for coloring. It includes a handy flap for easy assembly.
  4. Printable Piece 2 – The Princess: This piece features the fairy princess’s upper body, complete with her friendly face, lovely hair, and delicate fairy wings. It also has a flap designed to slot neatly into the skirt piece.

Both Piece 1 and Piece 2 are designed like coloring pages, offering a blank canvas for your child (or you!) to personalize.

Gathering Your Crafting Supplies

Okay, let’s get ready to make our Fairy Princess! Having your supplies gathered beforehand makes the whole process smoother and more enjoyable.

Fairy Princess

You don’t need anything too fancy, just some basic crafting staples.

Supplies You’ll Need

Here are the basic supplies you’ll want to have ready for your Fairy Princess craft:

A quick note on paper: While regular printer paper works, using a slightly heavier paper like cardstock (around 65lb or 176gsm is usually good) will make your Fairy Princess much sturdier and easier to stand up.

It also holds up better to enthusiastic coloring and gluing!

For glue, a simple glue stick is often less messy for little hands, but liquid craft glue provides a stronger bond – just use it sparingly to avoid soggy paper.

The Fun Part: Coloring Your Fairy Princess

Before any cutting or gluing begins, it’s time to bring your princess to life with color! This is where your child’s imagination can truly shine. Spread out the coloring supplies and let them decide on the fairy’s look.

  • Discuss Colors: Talk about different color combinations. What color will her dress be? Her hair? Her wings? Maybe the flowers on her skirt are all different colors!
  • Coloring Tools: Crayons are great for younger children, while colored pencils allow for more detailed work. Markers give vibrant results but can sometimes bleed through thinner paper (another reason cardstock is helpful!).
  • Add Some Sparkle? If you’re feeling extra magical, consider adding a touch of glitter glue to the wings or dress details once the main coloring is done. Just be sure to let it dry completely before moving on to cutting.
  • Take Your Time: Encourage your child to take their time and enjoy the process. It’s not a race! Coloring can be very calming and therapeutic.

Once the coloring masterpieces are complete (and any glitter glue is dry!), you’re ready for assembly.

Assembling Your Fairy Princess: Step-by-Step

Now, let’s put it all together! Follow these steps, referring to the visual instruction sheet included in the printable.

Instructions

Remember, patience is key, and a little adult help with trickier parts can go a long way.

Assembly Instructions:

  1. Prepare Piece 1 (Skirt): Color the skirt design on Piece 1 as desired. Carefully cut along the outer solid lines, including the curved and straight edges.
  2. Form the Cone Skirt: Gently curve Piece 1 to bring the straight edges together, forming a cone shape. Apply glue to the shaded flap area and overlap the other straight edge onto the flap, pressing firmly to secure.
  3. Prepare Piece 2 (Body/Wings): Color the fairy princess’s upper body, face, hair, and wings on Piece 2. Carefully cut along the outer solid lines of the entire shape.
  4. Attach Body to Skirt: Locate the rectangular shaded flap at the bottom of Piece 2. Apply glue to this flap. Carefully insert the glued flap into the opening at the top of the cone skirt (Piece 1) and press gently from inside and outside to ensure it adheres well.
  5. Let it Dry Completely: Set your assembled Fairy Princess aside in a safe place and allow the glue sufficient time to dry fully. This will prevent her from coming apart during play or display.

Tips for Better Crafting

Here are a few extra pointers to help make your Fairy Princess crafting experience smooth and successful:

  • Pre-Creasing: Before gluing the cone flap on the skirt, gently pre-creasing the fold can make it easier to shape and glue accurately.
  • Glue Sparingly: Apply a thin, even layer of glue. Too much glue can make the paper wrinkly or take a very long time to dry.
  • Drying Time: Ensure the glue is completely dry, especially where the body attaches to the skirt, before trying to stand the princess up or play with her.
  • Adult Assistance: Be ready to help with cutting, especially intricate parts like around the wings, if your child is young or new to using scissors. It’s better to assist than have frustration take over.
  • Make a Friend: Why stop at one? Print out a few copies and make a whole court of fairy princesses, each with unique colors!
