Step 1: The Snout and Jaw

To start your unicorn, we will focus on the lower part of the face. Draw a large, curved line that looks like a sideways “C.”

This shape forms the snout and the jawline. Make sure to place it toward the left side of your paper so you have plenty of room for the body later.

Now on the right side, add a small, pointy ear.

Step 2: Top of Head, and Horn

Now, let’s finish the main shape of the head. Draw a curved line across the top to close the head shape.

On the forehead, draw a fluffy, cloud-like shape for the hair (forelock), and then draw a tall, striped triangle on top for the magical horn.

Step 3: Facial Features and Mane

It’s time to give your unicorn some personality. Inside the snout, draw two small dots for nostrils and a tiny curved smile.

For the eye, draw a small “arch” shape to make it look like the unicorn is happily blinking. Finally, draw a wavy “S” shape starting behind the ear for the first part of the mane.

Step 4: More Mane, the Neck and The First Leg

Let’s add more volume to the hair. Draw another curved line underneath the first part of the mane to make it look thicker and wavy.

Then, draw a straight line coming down from the middle of the jaw to start the neck and chest area.

Now we will draw the first leg. Starting from the bottom of the chest line you just made, draw a rounded “U” shape that points down.

Step 6: The Back and Sitting Leg

Next, let’s draw the body. Start from the back of the mane and draw a curved line for the back. Since the unicorn is sitting down, draw a rounded “hook” shape for the hind leg.

It should look like the unicorn is resting its weight on its hip.

Step 7: The Tail and Hooves

A unicorn needs a big, beautiful tail! Draw a large, wavy shape coming off the back of the body. Make it look fluffy and flowing.

Finally, add a small horizontal line at the bottom of each leg to mark the hooves. This little detail makes the legs look complete.

Step 8: Final Touches

Congratulations! You have officially learned how to draw a unicorn. Take a look at your final drawing and make sure all your lines are connected.

If you used a pencil, you can now go over the outline with a dark marker to make your magical creature really stand out.
