  • For PURPLE, you’ll see grapes, a jellyfish, a star, and a sweater.
  • The BROWN sheet includes a mushroom, a slice of toast, a squirrel, and a cookie.
  • And for GREEN, there’s an apple (a green one this time!), a frog, a turtle, and a cactus.

How to Make This Activity Fun!

Getting this ready is pretty straightforward, and using it is even more fun. Here’s how I suggest you go about it:

Supplies Needed

Below are the supplies that you’ll need to have to get the best out of these activity sheets!

Talk About It: Talking about each object as they sort it – “Yes, the banana is yellow, and it goes in the yellow jar!” – helps reinforce color recognition and builds their vocabulary in a playful way.

  1. Print Everything: First, print out all the pages. I’d recommend using cardstock for durability, especially if you plan to use it multiple times.
  2. Cut it Out: Next, carefully cut out each of the 8 jars. Then, it’s time to cut out all the individual items from their respective sheets. This might take a little time, but it’s worth it! If your child is old enough, they can even help with some of the simpler shapes.
  3. Let the Matching Begin! Lay out the jars so your child can easily see all the different colors. Then, encourage them to pick up one of the small item cutouts. You can ask, “What color is this cute tiger?” or “What’s this yummy-looking strawberry?” Guide them to find the jar with the matching color and place the item onto it (or next to it, or even “in” it if you make a slit in the jar printable!).
