About These Last Day of School Signs
Each sign in this collection shares a cheerful and consistent design. They are made to be bright and easy to read in photos.
The signs feature a colorful triangle border at the top and bottom. The grade levels are written in a fun, multi-colored block font, with the phrase “my last day of” in a lovely script font above it. I’ve also added some cute icons that change for different grade levels!

The Benefit of a Photo Tradition
Using signs for first and last day of school photos is a wonderful family tradition. It’s about more than just a picture.
It creates a visual record of your child’s growth from one year to the next. It’s always so surprising to compare the first-day photo with the last-day one!
These signs make the process simple and stress-free. Just print the sign you need, and you have an instant photo prop that adds a special touch.
How to Prepare Your Signs
Getting your sign ready for its photo-op is very straightforward. You only need a couple of basic items.
Supplies Needed:
Here’s what you’ll need to prepare your photo sign:
- Our Free “Last Day of School” PDF: This file contains all 18 signs.
- Printer: A color printer will give you the best results.
- Paper: I highly recommend using white cardstock. It’s sturdier for holding in photos.
- Optional: A photo frame (8×10 or 8.5×11) to hold the sign.
Printing your sign is just as easy. Follow these simple steps for the best results.
Printing Your Sign:
- Download the PDF File: Save the complete PDF from the download link.
- Choose Your Page: Open the PDF and scroll to the page with the specific grade level you need.
- Print the Page: Go to your printer settings and select to print only the “Current Page.” This saves ink and paper!
- Printer Settings: Make sure your printer is set to “Actual Size” or “100%” and select the best quality print setting for vibrant colors.
Tips for Taking Great Photos
To capture the best possible picture with your sign, here are a few simple tips:
- Find Good Light: Natural light is your best friend. Head outside or stand near a large window.
- Let Them Hold It: Have your child hold the sign in front of them. It makes the photo more personal.
- Get a Few Shots: Take a few pictures. Ask for a nice smile, but get a silly one, too!
- Show the Growth: Pull up the “First Day” photo on your phone to compare. It’s a fun moment for everyone.
