Paper Frog Blower Craft!

The other afternoon, we were looking for a craft that wasn’t just a “make it and hang it on the fridge” kind of deal.

We wanted something we could actually play with. Then we came up with this paper frog blower, and honestly, it was a total hit!

Paper Frog Blower Craft

It’s so simple, and watching the little red tongue shoot out is hilarious. The kids were giggling for ages. I just had to share how we did it so you can try it too!

What You’ll Need:

Gather these simple supplies before you begin.

Supplies Needed:

Below are the supplies that you’ll need to make this craft!

  • Green Paper: One square piece, about 6×6 inches (15×15 cm).
  • Red Paper: One rectangular piece, about 8×3 inches (21×7 cm).
  • White & Black Paper: Small scraps to make the eyes (or you can use googly eyes!).
  • A Drinking Straw
  • Scissors
  • A Glue Stick
  • A Black Marker
  • Tape (optional, but helpful)

Here’s How I Made Them (Step By Step)

It looks fancy, but it’s super easy, I promise.

Step 1: First, you’ll create the main part of your frog. Go ahead and take your square of green paper and cut it into a nice big circle.

Step 2: It doesn’t have to be perfect! Once you have your circle, just fold it neatly in half. Before moving on, use your scissors to make one tiny snip right in the middle of that folded edge.

Step 3: Now for the tongue! Take the red paper strip and fold it lengthwise a few times to make it narrow and long.

Step 4: Apply some glue to one end of the red strip of paper.

Step 5: Insert the straw in one end of the paper roll and seal the paper roll by sticking both ends together.

Step 6: Then roll the other end of the paper into a tight coil.

Step 7: Now you’re ready to assemble your new friend!

Step 8: Gently open up the green frog body and slide the straw through that little slit you cut earlier.

You’ll want to push it from the inside out, so the coiled red tongue is on the outside of the frog’s mouth. A small piece of tape on the inside will help hold the straw in place.

Step 9: Make some eyes by cutting out paper circles or just stick on a pair of googly eyes.

Step 10: Use your black marker to draw two little dots for nostrils.

Step 11: Add some rosy red cheeks by cutting to circles from a red paper.

Step 12: Draw tiny little legs on a green paper and glue them to the back to finish the look!

Step 5: And that’s it, you’re all done! Take a deep breath and give a good blow into the straw. Have fun watching that silly red tongue fly out again and again

I Hope You Like It!

Seriously, we spent the next 20 minutes just blowing the tongues out and laughing. It’s such a simple craft, but the fun payoff is huge.

It’s perfect for a lazy afternoon or even as a fun little party favor. I hope you guys have as much fun making (and playing with) these as we did. Let me know if you try it!
